Keeping in Touch

As the days gets shorter, be sure to keep in touch with
friends and family who may need a 'pick me up'.

Send a card or a postcard to someone in a health care facility.
(Never underestimate the power of a greeting card.)
Remember someone dealing with medical issues.

Send a cheery email or text.
Forward a 'funny'.

Call for a real time visit.

If it can be worked out--visit in person!
You and your time is the best gift of all!

Happy Fall Y'all!

SPOOOOKKKKY JARS

Jars of various sizes--recycled from food products
Cheese cloth or rolls of gauze
Goggly Eyes
Glue or tape
Battery powered tea lights

Check the dollar stores for inexpensive materials.

Cover the jars with the cheese cloth or gauze.
If saving for next year, glue to the jar. If only needed for a short time, use tape so
the jars can be taken apart.

Add tea light.

Or, fill with candy or party snacks.

CINNAMON BREAD

My sister reminded me of a childhood treat our mom used to make.
Fond memories of hot chocolate and/or milk and cinnamon bread,
especially on a snow day!

check out her blog--The Whimsey Project for the recipe:

MAGAZINES

As I was pulling out the October back issues of four different crafting magazines, it
occurred to me it would be more efficient to store all the same months together.

For example--pull all of the January issues of the different magazines and store together.
Pull all of the February issues and store together, etc. Then, when I want to find ideas for winter, Valentines Day, Christmas, Halloween, etc., all of the ideas will be together.

The magazines could also be organized by Holiday.

So this reorganizing may be a winter project.

For those who have looked for "Scrapbooking and Beyond" and 'Paper Creations' in a two pack at SAM's, sad news in that All American Crafts Publications no longer publishes any craft magazine.

HOME DEPOT BURLAP WREATH

Materials:
flexible piece of hose/pipe--5 ft or so. (HD sells one for under $2.00, or use what you have)
small zip ties
roll of wide burlap
embellishments, check out your craft stash

1. Make a circle with the flexible hose, secure with the zip ties. Cut
excess zip tie off, but not too close or the zip tie and the wreath will come apart.
2. Take a length of burlap, zip tie end to circle, make a 'bubble', zip tie, do
this around the whole circle, keeping the roll of burlap intact until circle is covered.Wait to trim the zip ties until the burlap is set.  (see pictures below)
3. Add embellishments from your craft stash. Zip tie, wire or hot glue to wreath.

make circle out of flexible pipe

attach burlap 'bubbles' with zip ties
back of wreath--fill circle with bubbles
front of wreath--wait to trim zip ties until you get the whole circle covered
add bow and embellishments
finished wreath!

HOME DEPOT AND FALL WREATHS

Home Depot has a fun FREE workshop each month called "DO IT HERSELF" .
Locally it is the third Thursday of each month--check your local store for times/dates.
Each month we get a nice little Home Depot gift--this month was earbuds,
last time I attended we each received a tape measure.
Some months we pay a small fee for materials,
other months it is just demo.
Refreshments are also served--we had chili and 'fixin's to go along with the Fall Theme.

The project this month was updating the front door. This included showing how to make
a 'wreath' out of a ceiling medallion, along with actually making a burlap wreath.

YOURS TRULY won the attendance prize--which was the medallion wreath!
I plan to re-purpose this for another project.

I will show you how to make the burlap wreath on a Monday Make-Itz post.

Wreath made out of a ceiling medallion.

HOLIDAY PLANNER/2015 CALENDARS

Fall is just a week away--the Holidays can't be far behind, then here comes the New Year!!!!!
2015 Dates are already booking up--so it was time to update with 2015 planner pages.
My printer has been busy this morning!

Organized Home--click here for the best FREE website on the Internet for
great holiday planners/gift ideas/calendars.

I really like the 'portrait one month at a time' calendars to print
and put into my notebook planner.
(Sometimes portrait is hard to find.)

I also printed out the gift list organizer to jot down ideas.
Last year I made a master Christmas/Birthday card list ,
so I will be reviewing and updating any new addresses, etc.
(Addresses were written in pencil so changes can be easily made.)

There is also a great list to keep track of homemade gifts, and gifts ordered online.

Check it out and get ready to have AN ORGANIZED 2014 Holiday Season--
starting with the fall festivities!
