Thursday Treatz

I'm making my annual batch of Spiced Tea to give as gifts and
to enjoy during the winter months.
I know I have posted this before, but it is good enough to rerun.
Here is a very easy version that mixes up
in no time:

1 Large Container Orange Type Drink Mix
1 Large Container Half/Half Tea and Lemonade Mix
(these can be found in the powered drink aisle. Store brands work.)

Ground cinnamon
Ground cloves

I pour the powered drink mix into a bowl with a tight lid to mix.
Add the spices a teaspoon at a time, you don't want them
to over run the other flavors.
Shake to Mix all ingredients.
Taste test small amount, add spices as needed.

Pour into pretty jars or canning jars.
Decorate the jars with pretty paper, ribbon and stickers.

Add a tag with directions on how to use:
1 to 2 teaspoons of mix into boiling water, or to taste.

ENJOY with cookies next to a crackling fire on a dreary day!

Tuesday Tipz

--Remember the Back to School stash you have from the Tax Free Holiday?
Fill a fun tote with new coloring utensils and a coloring or activity book.

--Gift Cards--read somewhere this is the most asked for gift among the senior crowd--
especially restaurant gift cards since this may be the only way some seniors can treat themselves.

--Subscriptions to Netflix or other streaming sites, or pay the cable bill for a few months.

--Memberships--Sam's Club or Costco (my gang loves theirs),
Amazon Prime, museums or zoos.

--Photo gifts--make your own, or use one of the online sites to purcharse a gift.
If you are making a Shutterfly book, order two and send one to the g-rents.

--Personalized calendars (the gift that gives 'all year'.)

--The big box stores are already marking down Christmas items--make a holiday gift basket.

--The gift of your TIME!!!! There are people who have no one, all they want is a smile, a hug and a few moments of your time. Take time to connect with family and friends.
This is a zero cost gift that will make a difference in someone's life.

Last Minute Gifts

Here is a great last minute gift idea from Joanns Fabric and Crafts:
An Oven Mitt filled with kitchen utensils!
Their instructions show how to make the oven mitt, but
to save time, purchase a mitt and kitchen tools to fill it.
Joanns usually has these items on sale.
The Dollar Tree store also has quality kitchen tools
--think Betty Crocker.
Even if the receiver has these tools, it is always nice to have more
than one spatula and hot mitt.
Tie a pretty ribbon around the mitt and add a gift tag!

'Tis the Season for Last Minute Gifts

Home Depot has the cutest bucket and 'apron' from the Black Friday Ad.
This would make a great craft and/or coloring tote.
The apron has many pockets, both inside and out!
All for under $10.00!
(Remember--one cannot have too many coloring utensils or totes!)

Home Depot Do It Herself Project

November's Home Depot Do It Herself Workshop project
was a fun large whimsical wood stocking to paint. I decided to use mine as a stand up
decoration, but a hook could be added to the back to hang it up.
Our awesome teacher Josh had all of the stockings cut out of underlayment boards.
Time only permitted a few coats of paint in class, so I finished mine up at home.
To add ot the whimsey, I painted the stocking Christmas red and lime green.
I used a gold Sharpie Marker to outline the stocking and add swirlies to the green areas.
I still may add more 'bling', just haven't decided what kind yet.
It will be a working in progress.

Free hand stocking cut out of thin wood.
Whimsey swirls on the green areas.

I think this project could also be made out of strong coardboard if you do not
have a way to purchase or cut wood.
Instead of paint, you could decoupage pictures or cut outs from Christmas cards to decorate the stocking. Other shapes could be cut out as well, such as a star, a large
ornament--the possiblities are endless!
