Thursday Treatz

After Easter Treatz:

Unique Deviled Eggs
(an old family recipe made with mustard and vinegar)

We spent Easter with my 90.5 year old mom.
She surprised us with a snack of deviled eggs
made with my paternal grandmother's recipe.

The recipe is copied from my sister's blog,
check it out

Grandma's Deviled Eggs

there's always been the activity of dyeing easter eggs, even with the advent of plastic eggs that can be decorated and filled with goodies. the real eggs were hidden.  sometimes not all were found! what remains becomes deviled eggs, made with grandmother klasek's recipe. when i think about it, easter eggs are an excuse to make grandma's deviled eggs!  here's the recipe:

per each hard boiled egg yoke, add one teaspoon of yellow mustard and one teaspoon of vinegar.
after the yokes are mixed and then refilled in the white halves, sprinkle with chili powder.

as dad used to say, "that's a deviled egg!"

Monday Make Itz

I love learning techniques and getting new ideas.
Sometimes I also need some creative sparks and
refresher courses to use up my craft-stash.
Since I live in the 'black hole' of papercrafting--
store classes are difficult to attend and papercrafting
conventions have abandoned the south---or are too
far away or too expensive to attend (think Oregon!)--
I have found a fun alternative:

Paper Wishes offers kits with DVD instructions.
Pop the DVD into the computer and get ready for a personal class!
If I need more instruction, or time to work on a technique,
I just pause and rewind. I can play as often as needed.
No need to pack supplies and travel to learn new projects!
(Can we say PJ's?)

I am finishing up what Paper Wishes calls their
Girlfriends Getaway from 2015.
It comes with DVD instructions and all the materials
for 5-6 projects. Some of the supplies are full sized products.
There are leftovers enough for many more projects.
Tip--wait for a 20% code to order.

Check out other craft supplies as well.
Stampin' Up carries some kits, along with
Scrapbook and Cards Today.

I will post pix of my finished projects soon!

Happy Learnin' New Ideas Craftin'!

Friday Freebeez

Before ordering online from favorite craft sites,
be sure to check for free shipping codes.
Some sites have a 'break' point before free shipping.
If this is more than you want to spend, partner with a craftin' pal
to order together--free shipping for both!
If a site doesn't offer free shipping, it will
sometimes have a percentage off that almost covers the shipping cost.
For example, Paper Wishes has an offer for 20% off most expensive product in
the cart, along with free shipping at $79. use the code EASTER16 until Sunday.

(It's fun to shop in pj's without leaving home!)

Happy Craftin' Free Shipping Shopping!

COLORIT Coloring Books/Materials

I ordered a neat coloring book from a newer company named
This is a family business in the USA, with the books printed here as well.
The pages are hand drawn and printed on heavy quality paper.
The books are spiral bound on the top of the page to be left and right handed friendly.
I have signed up to refer other colorists to this sight,
so if you order please find and use 215832 as your contact.
Then, in the code area put REFER10  to get ten percent off of your order!
Free shipping on orders over $30!
Check back on their sight often, sometimes they offer free shipping!

Tipz--you can't have too many color books or coloring utensils.

March is National Craft Month

To celebrate--the TV channel Home Shopping Network-HSN- has a full day of craft
supplies/ ideas. You can also find great ideas on their website :

While I have only ordered from HSN a few times, I have been
pleased with my purchases. However, I do keep the channel on all day on these
special days to spark the creative juices.

If you are a fan of Hallmark Card's Maxine,
head over to your favorite Hallmark store or Online and
pick up one of her new Grownup Coloring Books.
This would also make a fun gift: either a colored page or the book itself!

Tuesday Tipz

Not sure if it is the clocks moving ahead this weekend for more daylight, or that Spring is in the air, but I feel the 'urge to purge.'

I am on a mission to 'lighten' the load, so to speak.
I figured that if I addressed one object a day either by
repurposing, recycling, donating, putting away,
or simply throwing away,
by the end of a year I would have moved 365 items along.
(More in a leap year! wink! wink!)

The time committment is minimal as well.
For example: ten minutes a day,say for 365 days equals
3,650minutes a year or 60 hours!
Don't worry if you miss a day or two, you will still see
progress throughout the year.

And the best reason to move along craft materials
you no longer use:

Let me know how your urge to purge is progressing!

Monday Make Itz

I can't 'RESIST' an oldie but goodie!

"Crayon or China Pencil" resist.

1.White China Pencils--kind of hard to find now,
but Hobby Lobby has a Sharpie Brand--two in a package.
(Remember how fun it was to pull down the little string and unwrap
the paper to sharpen the pencil?!)
Crayons will work as well, but the China pencil puts down more wax and gives
a better resist. If available, try different colors of China markers.

2. Watercolor paper works best, but heavy cardstock will do if
you don't get it too wet.

3. Watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, or ink pads and daubers.

4. Watercolor blending pens.

Materials for a resist picture

"Color" a picture or write a secrete message.

Color over whole area with desired medium.

Use blender pen to watercolor wash the color over the resist.

Finished resist. For bolder color, go over resist more than once. May need to let it dry between colors.

I have not forgetten all my craftin' pals.
Many life happenings these last few weeks have prevented me from posting as much

All included lots of traveling and being away from Wee Acres.
