Tuesday Tipz

I purchased a color by number
book on sale just to try.
Having someone else decide on the colors
made this book a no stress project.

The pictures are of flowers,
and I found that following the
numbered colors, it helped to see
how to shade the flowers.
So the book is kind of like
a mini art lesson.

Helpful hints:
--Look at the numbers to check the size.
One book had numbers so small I could not read them.
--See how intricate the pictures are--simpler may be better
   to start with.
--Make a color copy of the color key to use to match
the coloring tool to the key. Make a color swatch next
   to each color.
--Don't worry if the numbers show through the lighter colors.
Hard to see the numbers from afar.

Tuesday Tipz Two

I went to the local Dollar General to purchase a
flower pot, since of course we didn't have the size we needed.
Going into the store was a shopping cart full of flower pots--90% off!!!!!!
Remembering the wise words of my bargain shopper mom--purchase a bargain when you
see it, and buy one in every color---I stocked up!
This also brought up another mom saying--"You were meant to be here!"
What was even more comical than cleaning out the shopping cart, was that
the workers kept thanking me for buying them! They needed the shelf
space for Hallo-Thanks-Mass!

So my haul included 32 flower pots in various shapes, sizes and colors
for under $5.00!!!!
These will be used for my hen and chix along with a few other cuttings.

Tuesday Tipz

Making a List
(C Stuff)

I come from a long line of list makers,
we often laughed that we made lists of our lists.
For example, we had given Dad a bread maker when those were
popular. He kept a notebook of each loaf of bread he made--
the information was amazing--he could reference what breads worked
the best, and which recipes were favorites.

I find my day is more grounded and productive
if I have a daily project list along with a long term project list.
It is very rewarding to see projects completed and a
a check mark next to that item.
If something isn't finished,
it goes onto tomorrow list to be continued.

One day an answer to a question about what I was doing
ended up with "C" words--
Cooking, Cleaning, Coloring, Crocheting--
not necessarily in that order.
I will soon be adding 'Christmas'
to my C list as I am working on a project
for the family in memory of our Mom/Granny.

If you have not tried organizing your projects
with lists, make one and see if this will work for you!
There is no right or wrong way--just whatever is best for your life!

(Now that my blog entry is done, I can
scratch that one off my list!)

Monday Make Itz

Lots of possibilities for these easy felt bowls,
change the color of the felt for different holidays!
Instructions from Parents magazine website.

Darling Dish

These clever catchalls can be used to store anything from trinkets to treats.
What You'll Need
Felt, round objects, scissors, pencil, felt glue, binder clips
Make It
1. Use a round bowl or plate as a guide to cut out a circle of felt. The larger the circle, the bigger your felt dish will be.
2. Draw a smaller circle in the exact center and cut 8 evenly spaced slits from the outer edge of the felt circle to the edge of the penciled circle.
3. Glue the slit edges together, holding them in place with binder clips. Let dry.
4. From a contrasting color of felt, cut a circle slightly smaller than the inner circle of the bowl. Glue circle to bottom of bowl. Remove clips.

Fall Treats

Fall Treats

I wanted to make quick and easy fall table treats
for the October FCE meeting.
I die cut pillow boxes from pumpkin color card stock.
The leaves are die cut from green card stock.
After constructing the boxes, I placed a
snack size M&Ms inside.
I secured the ends with washi tape.
The leaf was attached.
Happy Fall Y'all will be stamped on the leaf.
(I should have stamped first! haha!)
